When Honda spokesperson Sage Marie was asked about when the Honda Fit hybrid would be available in the US, she said it won’t be, at least not for a while.
Honda knows that Americans prefer dedicated hybrids like the Toyota Prius, and they already have a dedicated hybrid in the pipeline (2010, about $19,000) which will be based on the FCX Clarity, and a sporty hybrid coupe based on the CR-Z concept. Plus, Honda can only make so many Hybrid Fits, so it makes more sense to sell them in Japan where they will be better received, and more profitable.
Oh Well.
